NUC accredits 15 courses at Calabar varsity



The National Universities Commission has granted Arthur Jarvis University full accreditation in 13 courses and interim accreditation for two courses as well as statutory licence to operate as a tertiary institution.

The first privately-owned university in Cross River State was granted a provisional license in 2016, which was reviewed in 2019, and the programmes were approved for the university at its take-off in March 2017.

Announcing the latest development at the institution’s campus in Akpabuyo, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ani Nkang, said, “It is my pleasure to announce that Arthur Jarvis University met all the qualifications and has been issued with a full statutory licence to operate as a tertiary institution.

“The result of the October/November accreditation exercise communicated to the university by the NUC shows that all the programmes presented by the university have been accredited by the NUC. The commission granted full accreditation in 13 courses (87 per cent), while two others were given interim accreditation (13 per cent).”

Some of the programmes that got full accreditation include Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, English, Biology, Physics, Computer Science, etc.

Nkang congratulated the Chancellor of the university, Sir Jarvis Archibong, the Governing Council, management, students and parents for the successes recorded by the university.
